Third-party licenses

oncut KeyLang ships with Qt (LGPL-3.0) and FFmpeg (LGPL-2.1-or-later), both dynamically linked. Complete license texts, attribution records and corresponding-source information ship inside every package, in the licenses folder, which is also reachable from Settings, About & license. Sources are available on request from support@oncut.gr. This page names the same components, versions and source archives as those texts.

The release this page describes

oncut KeyLang 1.0.1 has not been released yet. Its files and their SHA-256 checksums will be listed here on the day they can be downloaded.

FFmpeg 7.1.3

License: GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1 or later. Portions of FFmpeg are also covered by permissive licenses, whose notices and full texts ship in FFmpeg_THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt.

Shipped as avcodec-61.dll, avformat-61.dll, avutil-59.dll, swresample-5.dll and swscale-8.dll beside the executable on Windows. These are the FFmpeg binaries The Qt Company distributes with Qt 6.11.1, unmodified by oncut. They include none of FFmpeg's optional parts under other licenses.

Corresponding source, the official FFmpeg n7.1.3 release:

The written offer, as it ships in ffmpeg-lgpl.txt:

In addition, oncut offers to provide any third party who possesses the FFmpeg binaries distributed with this version of oncut KeyLang with a complete machine-readable copy of the corresponding source code, including any patches and applicable build information, upon request for at least three years from the date this version was distributed and for as long as oncut provides support for it. Requests may be sent to support@oncut.gr. No charge will be made other than any reasonable cost of physical distribution.

FFmpeg is a trademark of Fabrice Bellard, originator of the FFmpeg project.

Qt 6.11.1

License: GNU Lesser General Public License, version 3. KeyLang uses the official Qt binaries, unmodified, dynamically linked.

Corresponding source, the official Qt 6.11.1 release:

The written offer, as it ships in qt-lgpl.txt:

In addition, oncut offers to provide a copy of that corresponding source code upon request for at least three years from the date this version was distributed and for as long as oncut provides support for it. Requests may be sent to support@oncut.gr. No charge will be made other than any reasonable cost of physical distribution.

Replacing these libraries

Qt and FFmpeg are dynamically linked so that you can replace them with your own compatible builds: put them in place of the shipped files beside oncut KeyLang.exe. The EULA, Section 7, does not restrict this, nor reverse engineering to the extent needed to debug such modifications.

Typefaces

The application's interface and the bundled manual are set in two typefaces, both unmodified and both licensed under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1:

The font files are embedded in the executable and copied into the manual's assets/fonts folder. They are distributed with this software as the OFL permits and are not sold on their own.

The letters in the product icon

The two letters on the KeyLang product icon (the Greek capital omega and the Cyrillic capital ya) are the outlines of those glyphs in Open Sans Bold, version 1.10, digitized data copyright (c) 2010-2011 Google Corporation, licensed under Apache License 2.0. See Apache-2.0.txt. Source: https://github.com/googlefonts/opensans

They have been modified: each glyph was converted from the font to a vector outline, scaled and placed on the key artwork, and rasterized with it into the icon files (keylang.svg, its PNG sizes, the .ico and the alert variant). No font file is distributed. Open Sans is a trademark of Google and may be registered in certain jurisdictions; KeyLang does not use the name.

Everything else in the package

KeyLang also bundles components under their own, permissive or data licenses, among them fastText (MIT), word lists from the FrequencyWords project (CC BY-SA 4.0), Google Material icons (Apache 2.0), ed25519 (zlib), and the GCC and MinGW-w64 runtime libraries (under the GCC Runtime Library Exception 3.1, and MIT). Each is listed in licenses/INVENTORY.md with its full license text beside it, and licenses/SBOM.spdx.json describes the whole package in the SPDX format.
