END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR ONCUT KEYLANG
EULA version 1.0, effective 14 July 2026. This EULA applies to oncut KeyLang ("SOFTWARE"), version 1.x.
IMPORTANT - READ CAREFULLY. This End-User License Agreement ("EULA") is a legal agreement between you (either an individual or a single entity, "you") and oncut ("oncut", "we", "us") for the SOFTWARE, which includes the accompanying executable code, resources, and any associated documentation. By installing, copying, activating a trial of, or otherwise using the SOFTWARE, you agree to be bound by the terms of this EULA. If you do not agree, do not install or use the SOFTWARE.
1) GRANT OF LICENSE
The SOFTWARE is licensed, not sold. Subject to your compliance with this EULA, oncut grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable (except where transfer cannot lawfully be prohibited under applicable law) license to install and run the SOFTWARE on one (1) computer at a time, either:
a) during a time-limited evaluation ("Trial") period, for evaluation purposes only, and not for production or commercial use; or
b) after activation with a valid license key issued by oncut, for the scope (such as the machine it is locked to, or a subscription term) tied to that license key.
2) TRIAL PERIOD
The Trial period begins on first launch of the SOFTWARE on a given machine and lasts for the duration stated in the application. Trial status may be stored locally on the device using application configuration data and a machine-specific identifier; this check is performed locally and does not require transmitting data to oncut. oncut may detect and refuse re-installation attempts intended to extend or reset the Trial period on the same machine. At the end of the Trial period, the SOFTWARE will cease to function until a valid license key is activated.
3) LICENSE KEYS
License keys are issued by oncut, are cryptographically signed, and are bound to the terms under which they were issued (e.g. an expiration date, or a specific machine). License keys are validated locally by the SOFTWARE and do not require an online activation server. You may not share, publish, or attempt to forge, alter, or circumvent a license key or the mechanism that validates it.
4) RESTRICTIONS
You may not: (a) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the SOFTWARE, except as permitted by applicable law or as necessary to exercise rights granted under an applicable open-source license (for example, to debug or modify the LGPL-licensed components described in Section 7); (b) rent, lease, lend, or resell the SOFTWARE, except where such a restriction cannot lawfully be imposed under applicable law; (c) use the SOFTWARE beyond the Trial period without a valid license key; or (d) remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or license-key notice in the SOFTWARE.
The restrictions in this Section apply only to the proprietary portions of the SOFTWARE and do not restrict any right granted with respect to a Third-Party Component under Section 7 or its applicable license.
5) DATA, PRIVACY, AND KEYBOARD MONITORING
a) How it works. To perform its function, the SOFTWARE uses a system-wide keyboard hook and receives keyboard events while it is running, including input entered into other applications. This may include input entered into messaging applications, search fields, password fields, and other applications, subject to operating-system security restrictions.
b) Local-only processing. All such processing happens locally on your computer, in memory, in real time. The SOFTWARE does not transmit your keystrokes or typed content to oncut or any third party, and in its normal operation does not store the content of what you type. The data the SOFTWARE writes to disk are your settings, a locally-stored learned-words list, a diagnostic log that records no typed text, your licensing state (the licence key you enter, if any, stored locally, and a trial-period marker), and, only if the SOFTWARE terminates unexpectedly, a diagnostic crash file as described in subsection (g) below. The learned-words list contains only words you explicitly add or teach through user-triggered features, and may include personal terms you enter; it is stored locally in the SOFTWARE's application-data directory and can be reviewed or deleted by you.
c) No automatic updates. In view of the sensitivity of the keyboard input processed by the SOFTWARE, it does not perform automatic updates and does not transmit usage data or otherwise "phone home." See also Sections 6 and 9.
d) Clipboard features. Optional convenience features, including the convert-clipboard, convert-and-replace-selection, and learn-selected-word hotkeys, may trigger a copy operation in the active application and read the resulting contents of the system clipboard. In the case of conversion, the SOFTWARE writes the converted text to the system clipboard. Convert-and-replace may also trigger a paste operation in the active application. These operations may replace clipboard content that was present previously. The system clipboard is shared with, and may be read by, other applications on your computer. You are responsible for deciding when to use these features and should avoid using them with sensitive content unless appropriate. These features can be enabled or disabled in the SOFTWARE's settings. The learn-selected-word hotkey is disabled by default, because it stores the selected word. The convert-clipboard and convert-and-replace-selection hotkeys are enabled by default, but perform no action unless you press their key combinations.
e) Your responsibility. You are responsible for using the SOFTWARE in compliance with all laws applicable to you, including where you install it on a computer used by others or in a workplace. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, oncut accepts no liability for any loss, disclosure, or misuse of any data observed, processed, or placed on the clipboard by the SOFTWARE. Further information is provided in the Privacy section of the product documentation. This Section is subject to Sections 11 and 12.
f) Data protection. The keyboard input the SOFTWARE processes is handled solely on your device as described in (b); oncut does not collect, receive, transmit, or store that content, and accordingly does not act as a controller or processor of it. Where you use the SOFTWARE to process personal data - for example on a device used by others or in a workplace - you are the party responsible for that processing under applicable data-protection law (including, in the European Union, the GDPR), and for any notice, lawful basis, or consent that law requires of you. The machine-specific identifier used for the Trial (Section 2) is generated and kept on your device and is not transmitted to oncut. If you request a machine-locked license, the machine identifier you choose to send to oncut for that purpose is a salted, one-way value that does not reveal your hardware, and oncut processes it only to issue and validate that license. When you purchase or activate a license, oncut processes the limited personal data you provide (such as your name, email address, machine identifier where applicable, and transaction details) for the purpose of performing this agreement (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and complying with its legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR). That processing, your rights, and how to exercise them are described in oncut's Privacy Policy at https://apps.oncut.gr/privacy, which is provided to you as the privacy notice required under applicable data-protection law. The Privacy Policy is an informational notice and not part of this agreement; where it and this EULA conflict on the use of the SOFTWARE, this EULA governs.
g) Diagnostic crash file. If the SOFTWARE terminates unexpectedly, it may write a diagnostic crash file (a memory "minidump") to its local application-data directory to help diagnose the failure. Because this file is a snapshot of the program's memory at the moment of the crash, it may incidentally contain fragments of data that were being processed at that time, which could include typed or clipboard content. This crash file is stored only on your computer and is not transmitted to oncut or any third party automatically; the SOFTWARE notes its presence the next time it starts. You may review or delete it at any time, and it is disclosed to oncut only if you choose to include it when you report a problem.
6) NETWORK ACCESS AND EXTERNAL LINKS
The SOFTWARE does not require an Internet connection for its normal operation and does not automatically transmit user-created content to oncut.
The SOFTWARE may contain links to external websites, documentation, support pages, or email addresses. These links are opened only following an explicit action by the user and may cause the user's default web browser or email application to connect to third-party services. The availability, content, and privacy practices of those external services are outside the control of the SOFTWARE.
7) THIRD-PARTY COMPONENTS
In this EULA, "Third-Party Component" means any software, library, data, or other material included in or distributed with the SOFTWARE that is licensed to you by a party other than oncut under its own license terms, including the components identified in licenses/INVENTORY.md and the accompanying notices in the licenses folder.
The SOFTWARE dynamically links the Qt framework, licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License version 3 (LGPL v3). As contemplated by that license, Qt is dynamically linked so that you may replace the Qt libraries with compatible versions; nothing in this EULA restricts that right, your right to reverse engineer those components to the extent necessary for such replacement or for debugging your modifications, or your other rights under the LGPL with respect to those components. The full LGPL v3 text, the applicable Qt copyright notices, and information on obtaining the corresponding Qt source code for the version distributed with the SOFTWARE are provided with the SOFTWARE (see the licenses folder).
The SOFTWARE also dynamically links to FFmpeg multimedia libraries, licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License version 2.1 or later (LGPL v2.1+). You may replace those libraries with compatible modified versions, and nothing in this EULA restricts modification of the FFmpeg libraries or reverse engineering for debugging such modifications. The applicable licence text, copyright notices, build information, and instructions for obtaining the corresponding source code are provided in the licenses folder.
The SOFTWARE also includes the fastText library, licensed under the MIT License, and certain word-list or language data licensed under the terms identified in licenses/INVENTORY.md, together with the other components listed there. Each such component remains licensed under its own terms, and nothing in this EULA restricts your rights under those licenses with respect to those components specifically.
8) OWNERSHIP
The SOFTWARE is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws and treaties. oncut owns all title, copyright, and other intellectual property rights in the SOFTWARE, excluding the third-party components described in Section 7, which remain the property of their respective owners. This EULA grants you no rights other than those expressly stated above.
9) UPDATES AND SUPPORT
oncut may, but is not obligated to, provide updates, upgrades, bug fixes, or support for the SOFTWARE. Any updates that oncut does provide are governed by this EULA unless they are accompanied by separate terms. Your purchase of a license does not entitle you to any specific future update, upgrade, or new feature unless expressly stated in writing.
10) TERMINATION
Without prejudice to any other rights, oncut may terminate this EULA if you fail to comply with its terms. Upon termination, you must stop using the SOFTWARE, uninstall it, and delete any remaining copies under your control. Sections 5 through 8 and 11 through 15 survive termination.
Termination of this EULA does not terminate or restrict any rights you hold independently under the applicable licenses of Third-Party Components and does not require deletion of copies lawfully retained under those licenses.
11) DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Nothing in this EULA excludes, restricts, or limits any warranty, remedy, liability, or other statutory right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law, including mandatory consumer-protection laws.
12) LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL ONCUT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. ONCUT'S ENTIRE LIABILITY UNDER THIS EULA SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU ACTUALLY PAID FOR THE LICENSE, IF ANY.
Nothing in this EULA excludes, restricts, or limits any warranty, remedy, liability, or other statutory right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law, including mandatory consumer-protection laws, nor does it exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13) GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION
This EULA is governed by the laws of Greece, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and, subject to applicable mandatory consumer-protection rules, the courts of Greece shall have jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to it. If you are a consumer, this choice of law and jurisdiction does not deprive you of any protection afforded to you by mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may also be entitled to bring proceedings in that country.
14) SEVERABILITY
If any provision of this EULA is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable or, if it cannot be so modified, shall be severed, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
15) ENTIRE AGREEMENT
This EULA, together with any license terms accompanying a license key you obtain and the third-party notices referenced in Section 7, constitutes the entire agreement between you and oncut concerning the SOFTWARE and supersedes all prior or contemporaneous understandings regarding it. Any amendment must be in writing.
Nothing in this EULA supersedes, modifies, or replaces the applicable license of a Third-Party Component. In the event of an inconsistency, that third-party license controls solely with respect to the relevant component.
16) CHANGES TO THIS AGREEMENT
oncut may issue an updated version of this EULA for future versions of the SOFTWARE. The version of this EULA delivered with the SOFTWARE you install governs your use of that installation; a change to these terms does not alter the terms you already accepted for a version you have installed. If you install a version of the SOFTWARE accompanied by updated terms, your installation or use of that version after those terms are made available constitutes acceptance of them; if you do not agree, do not install or use that version. Material changes are indicated by the version number and effective date shown at the top of this EULA.
